If the seller is offering you an unregistered license, we advise not to take it, claim your money back via the PayPal buyer protection and inform us under The reason we do not allow unregistered licenses to be sold is that they are often not meant to be resold, because they were given away for free or as part of a promotion, a purchase or a magazine. If the seller is not showing signs of life, you can claim your money back via PayPal. I have already paid, but the seller is not responding To take things beyond the hardware that inspired it and give you even more creative flexibility, we’ve created a deluxe version of the Devil-Loc. PayPal buyer protection fees are included in the price.Ģ. I think one of the free Klanghelm comps does a much milder version of this pretty well too, so between that and the Devil Loc it covers a lot of ground and sounds good quickly. If you haven´t done so already, please go to your PayPal-account and transfer the payment to the seller.

Until I get a Standard Audio Level-Or MK2, I have a few plugins like this one that work surprisingly well. I love that sound, and love explode'y drums. It's very, very common to add this type of sound in parallel and just dial in a bit ("little goes a long way"). The most common use for Shure Level Loc type stuff is to smash a room mic, and/or parallel compress a drum bus, or even individual tracks.

The full version may add more features that make it more flexible, but the "idea" behind any Shure Level Loc clone is going to be smash'y and distort'y and not a clean and flexible do-it-all comp.Įither way there's a free trial period so d/l it and play with it.

I have the base version Devil Loc plugin, and I think it's just 2 knobs: how much compression and how much distortion. Anything you read about using the Level Loc should apply to the Devil Loc. It's inspired by or modeling the Shure Level Loc, which is basically a one trick pony with a very nice trick. you will just have to experiment and see if it gives you usable and inspiring results.īut I agree you will prob get the most workable results from using it as way to vibe up the drums as a parallel compressor. I suppose you can use it however you want weather on an individual drum mic or gating your drums before or after hitting the Devil-loc.
#Soundtoys devil loc how to#
Seems Sound Toys has figured out how to take the simplicity and beastly character of the Shure Level Loc and mold it into a more usable and forgiving digital emulation. which gave rise to the Level Loc's popularity many years later as a sonic secret weapon for some top engineers and producers. The only parameters you could change on it was the input level and the limiting threshold, which you could change with a 3 way switch.īeing specifically designed for public speaking, the attack, release and threshold parameters made for some very unique and trashy results when used on timed dynamic sound sources like drums. The Level Loc was designed to even out mic signals from public address systems and it had very specific unchangeable attack and release times built into it.

As you may know the Devil-loc is inspired by the original 60's era Shure Level Loc, which I suppose could be classified more as a crude limiter rather than a surgical pro audio compressor.
